Ontario has long been seen as a leader in green technology. The microFIT program is yet another demonstration of our province's passion for environmental stewardship.
The program entices farmers, business people and homeowners to invest in small (micro) feed-in tariff (FIT) projects to help produce more green power for the province for today and for the future. The projects must be 10 kilowatts or less to qualify.
The microFIT Program pays participants 80.2 cents per kilowatt-hour of electricity generated by the project. The pricing is designed to cover the cost of equipment, installation, operation and maintenance and to let participants earn a significant return on the investment.
Not only does the microFIT Program make financial sense, it makes environmental sense. By generating solar power, participants in the microFIT program will be helping to replace dirty coal-fired power generation. Ontario plans to phase out coal by the end of 2014 as part of Canada's largest climate change initiative.
With the microFIT Program and Solar Up Energy, you can go green and earn green.
